History

The beginnings of Camden Theological Library go back to the middle of the 19th century when the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian churches established permanent colleges to educate candidates for their respective ministries. The present library contains some books which were inherited from Camden (Congregational), Leigh (Methodist) and St. Andrews (Presbyterian) Colleges.

The Collection today

In addition to containing resources to support undergraduate and postgraduate study in theology, Biblical studies, church history, Christian ethics, preaching, ministry and mission, the collection also comprises many recent acquisitions which represent the interests and concerns of a contemporary Australian church seeking to relate Christianity to the issues of modern society.

One of the special features of the collection is a wide-ranging collection of theological books in the Korean language.

There are also historical documents relating to the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian churches.
